Call for Volunteers: Northampton County Schools Community Garden at CES
We are excited to announce an enriching opportunity for our school and Northampton County community to come together and cultivate something truly special. Northampton County Schools in partnership with Healthier Generations and the North Carolina State University Extension Agency are embarking on the creation of a community garden, set to commence in May 2024 at Central Elementary, and we are seeking your support and involvement in this endeavor.
The Northampton County Schools Community Garden will serve as an interactive learning space where students, teachers, parents, and members of the community can collaborate to nurture various spring and summer crops. From building raised beds to harvesting crops, there are numerous ways in which you can contribute your time, skills, and expertise to help make this project a success.
Here are some of the areas where volunteers are needed:
1. **Construction and Maintenance**: Help build raised beds, prepare the soil, install irrigation systems, and maintain the garden infrastructure.
2. **Planting and Cultivation**: Assist in planting seeds, transplanting seedlings, and tending to the garden beds throughout the growing season.
3. **Education and Engagement**: Engage with students and educators to facilitate educational activities and workshops focused on gardening, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.
4. **Harvesting and Distribution**: Participate in harvesting fresh produce and organizing distribution efforts to ensure that the fruits of our labor benefit our school community and beyond.
By volunteering in the Northampton County Schools Community Garden, you will not only contribute to the beautification of our school grounds but also play an integral role in fostering a sense of ownership, responsibility, and connection among our students and families.
If you are interested in volunteering or would like to learn more about how you can get involved, please complete the volunteer form by clicking here indicating what your participation preference is. Keep in mind no matter how big or small, any and all participation will make a meaningful difference in the success of this initiative.
Thank you in advance for your support and commitment to enhancing the educational experience for the Students of Northampton County Schools.
Together, let us sow the seeds of growth, learning, and community empowerment in our school garden. -
