    The State Highway Patrol Department in conjunction with the North Carolina Department of Education donated over 200 slightly used laptops to the Northampton County School District in order to support our school system.  The Local School Board voted to accepted the laptop donations and sends our heartfelt thank you to the SHP. NCDPI and all other parties who were involved in Changing the Lives of Children!

    Board Meeting on Monday, August 10, 2020


    WHAT: The next regular Board Meeting of the Northampton County Board of Education is scheduled for a Virtual Meeting on Monday, August 10, 2020 at 5:30 p.m.

    WHAT: The August 10, 2020 Northampton County Board of Education

    regular business meeting will be held remotely and electronically to honor social distancing requirements related to the coronavirus pandemic.  Northampton County Board of Education is committed to providing opportunities for members of the public to view/listen to the meeting and to submit public comments in ways that resemble as closely as possible the normal processes for in-person public meetings.

    The Board will convene the meeting in open session at 5:30 p.m.  The Board will go into closed session at that time and return to open session for the regular business meeting at 6:30 p.m.  Members of the public will have access to view all public portions of the regular meeting (i.e., every part except closed session):

    Public Comment 

    In compliance with Board Policy 2310, each month, the first part of at least one regularly scheduled board meeting will be set aside for citizens to address the board through public comment.  Each speaker will receive three minutes to present comments.  A sign-up sheet will be available in the Public Affairs Office for any individual or group to indicate their desire to address the Board.  The deadline is 10:00 a.m. the day of the board meeting.  Any individual or group can sign-up by contacting Mr. Mark Barfield, Public 

    Affairs Office, at (252) 534-1371, extension 2245 or by email  


    The public comment portion of the regular business meeting will be held at the time shown on the agenda.  Members of the public will have the opportunity to submit public comments in one of two ways: (1) sign up in advance to have their comments broadcast live on the video and audio feeds; or (2) submit a written comment by email during the designated time period to be read aloud by staff.  Each person is limited to one public comment, whether written or spoken, per meeting.

    Rules of Order and Decorum 

    All of the Board’s normal rules of order and decorum for public address apply to comments submitted by telephone or in writing.  The Chair may rule written comments out of order in the same manner as spoken comments.


    Special Accommodations 

    Anyone who requires disability accommodations or may have trouble accessing the live video stream on 10th day, August, 2020 is encouraged to contact Mr. Corey Tyler at (252) 534-1371, extension 2246 or prior to the day of the meeting to explore whether alternative arrangements can be made for the submission of public comment.
