Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Cameron Phillips
It is great to be here at Central Elementary for the 2020/2021 school year! I teach healthy living ( K-5th). This is my second year serving the students and community here at Central. The purpose of this page is to give you a brief background of myself and a general idea of my philosophy on education as it applies to Healthy Living.
I grew up in the Western area of Northampton County, in a town called Garysburg. I played sports throughout my childhood and still love to participate in a friendly game no matter what sport, as an adult. I graduated from Northampton County-West and then went on to graduate from North Carolina A&T in December of 2010. In my free time, I enjoy spending time exploring Zoo's, going to sporting events, and family walks with my wife (Alexzandria) and kids ( Kamryn, Madison, & Camden). Honestly though, being a father is my favorite responsibility in my adult life. My wife and I are enjoying all the experiences and busyness that comes with having three energetic kids.
In my class, I hope to encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth, over a must-win attitude. I find sport/encouragement to be a great stress reliever, escape from frustrations, and opportunity to strengthen one's self no matter winning or losing. In Health and Wellness classes I will promote the power of decision making and goal setting with life skills and educate students on the importance of maintaining a healthy body and mind through positive behaviors. I believe in the value of arming kids with practical, lifelong health skills, which cross over the subject matter and develop character.
